Canon Underwater Camera and Housing Waterproof Tips

Canon WP-DC34 Underwater Housing for Canon PowerShot G11 Digital CameraHave you ever seen the digital camera for a little underwater adventure? Whether it is a sub and an avid photographer, I'm sure you have. Chances are you'll think of more than fact, you probably already have the jump. . . sorry;) underwater photography can be a combination of two very rewarding hobby enthusiasts. The resulting images can be beautiful. In addition, your underwater adventures to share with family and friends who do not dive. If you just started, but you might want a few things to consider.

With the arrival of some remarkable cases and advanced digital camera, you can use the camera is already familiar. Although there are cases for all waterproof camera, Canon is one of the named body. There are also third-party manufacturers, Canon camera cases. If you have just bought a waterproof case or in the market for one, there are a few tips to keep in mind.

Do a test is essential for success in the field. While you may be familiar with the camera, using one in a case in a marine environment a very different experience. So, spend some time in full scuba gear, a camera with your body to see how it feels. Check neutral buoyancy is important here. Some cases, houses with more weight in order to achieve a slightly negative buoyancy.

While good fully charged batteries are essential for any camera is doubly true with underwater photography. I have a body well enough to make you change the batteries while underwater without destroying your camera to see. Sure to plan ahead.

I may be stating the obvious here. Especially on your first dive with the expensive Canon camera and your brand new business. But, once you enter the water, control the camera does not leak. Especially around any seals and O-ring.

Beware of air pockets in the lens port. Unless you're going to look all soft-focus pictures, you should move all the bubbles.

Take high resolution photos from your camera and memory card can handle. Preferably in RAW format, if possible. While the marine world, has its own set of challenges to getting good shots, you start with more pixels, the better the chances of successful treatment of defects after the fact.

Experience of Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP Waterproof Camera

Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCDI have my new Canon Powershot D10 for about a week and love it. I use Canon cameras for 25 years, AE1 Program, A1, seventh Elan, and Digital Rebel. When I went looking for a waterproof camera to take snorkeling, my first choice was Canon, based on my many years of satisfaction with their products, and I was very happy that this camera was two weeks before leaving for the holidays. (Amazon had the camera available for pre-order far in advance. I bought mine at a local photo shop.)

I am very impressed with the quality of this camera. The 12 megapixels coupled with a dozen shooting modes, producing an excellent image. They are used to control aperture and shutter speed on camera, so just choose "portrait" mode or "night" exposure and let the camera do all the work seems too easy. Or, if you select "Portrait" is too difficult, you can select "AUTO" and let the camera do everything. Video quality is very good. The LCD screen on the back of the camera looks great compared to "a screen on my old Digital Rebel. It is a large screen.

The controls are clear and easy to use, and their icons are displayed is informative and intuitive. You can choose to view all the settings or disable them and only see the image. One of the display options at your fingertips is an overlay grid on the screen to help with the composition and the "rule of thirds." The optical zoom works great. By the time you went to 12x digital zoom, the image is kind of grainy, but that's to be expected.

You can macro shot of an inch or two of the subject. I had trouble focusing my Digital Rebel in the dark, but Canon seems to have improved low light a little fire '. It has a manual focus function that indicates the distance from the subject, if you focus, if you can not get the right focus.

I love the panorama feature that shows the last shot on the viewfinder while you prepare the next shot, allowing the photographer to closely match the next shot, resulting in panoramic images with less distortion when they are sewn together. Panorama mode also locks in the value of the first shot, so the exposure for the next shot the first shot the whole game.

Face Detection and Blink Detection, both seem to work. When the camera focuses, it will zoom in on one of the faces, so that the photographer can check focus right. After the photo was taken, if someone blinked, the person's face to identify flash so you can take another shot. It can be enabled or disabled depending on user preferences. The pictures look very clear, which I attribute to the image stabilization, which can also be enabled or disabled.

I have the camera in the sink, and covers six inches of water without problems. I'll see how it works with thirty two and a half feet above the water where it meets the Atlantic Ocean in a few weeks! The wrist strap attaches to the four corners of the camera (useful for implementation in left or right) and it seems pretty safe, so do not worry about losing if toppled by a wave.

I use Photoshop Elements, so I have not loaded the Canon software and can not comment on that. And how do I change the pictures on the computer, I doubt that some of the in-camera editing functions, such as black and white, sepia, color swap, and various color enhancements. I could see that it would be useful for those who print directly from a digital camera, edit on a computer.

The camera lets you shoot in RAW. I generally do not shoot in RAW with my camera, so it does not bother me. It has several white balance settings, white balance and white. It seems to do a good job selecting the correct shooting conditions in AUTO mode. The colors displayed correctly.

Some drawbacks: The camera is not threaded, so you can not filter. There is no lens cap, and I worry about damaging the surface of the lens. For a camera rugged "adventure", I am surprised that there is no GPS chip, so the photos may be marked with the exact location. I look at old slides taken while I walk and think "is clean, because I do not remember where I found it." It would be nice if the EXIF data recorded latitude and longitude. (Note Canon PowerShot D10 with the Canon PowerShot "Gold" in six months with these characteristics. The curse of being an early adopter.)

The microphone picks up every movement of your fingers as you hold the camera, so it's hard to catch the movie without any sound of the camera. The speaker at the bottom of the camera is also difficult to hear when playing movies on the camera but the film sounds good if I pop the memory of the computer and watch in Quicktime. The films are produced in the. mov then you need to do some conversion, if you want something with it in Windows Movie Maker. You can also choose between a higher quality of 640 x 480, or lower-quality 320 x 240. (I would post a video review, but it looks like a sucker for movies, so I will spare everyone.)

Tried a couple of pictures of Infrared-taking, but the picture is the hot spot featuring several Canon cameras and lenses. I was a Hoya R72 filter on the lens and took some photos. sunlight exposure is about a 4, and all images have a blue circle in the center.

The disadvantages are very low compared to large images this camera produces.

I am very impressed with this camera. It feels very sturdy, great photographer, and it seems very easy to use. Although I'll probably stay on my Digital Rebel as my main camera to use, I certainly look forward to many years of fun with this camera.

Kodak MAX Water & Sport Single Use Camera Customer Review

By Duece (Charleston, IL) ...
I bought 2 of these cameras to take with me on vacation in the Philippines. I used this camera before going to the beaches in Florida, and the images were very good. I used the first camera underwater expedition. There are at least 50 meters below the surface, and the images were as good as a digital camera, a sunny day. It 'was very sunny that day it rained the day before, which may be the result of clear images. I was very happy to see that the camera does not break anything or images are subject to the pressure of deep water. I used a second camera when I went to another beach in the Philippines, where no rain in the evening, but the photos came out quite clear and enabled me some great memories to keep. I would strongly indicate a product for everyone who wants to be an economical and reliable way to expensive camera to the sea or dive for fun.

By R. Mufti ...
This camera looks really good and promising. Kodak also says he can up to 50 feet, the same camera is the phrase "up to 35 feet or 10 meters," wrote. But we were able to 60ft and there is nothing wrong with it. Do not erase or lose! It 'a little' busy, which means not sink when falling, and rising.

It has two disadvantages, the first is the lack of flash. There is more sunlight 35 feet beneath the sea, and so the picture has become a bit 'too dark and bluish. When the photo color correction turned into a clear and mottled. 20ft above the pictures taken were impressive. The second disadvantage is that the camera lens of the eye is too small for a person wearing a diving mask (goggles).

The camera does not lose its color in the eye, up to 60 feet as is blue. It is a place where a nylon rope or tape can be connected so that it can attack the diving jacket (BCD).It is not perfect, but it is the best.

Fujifilm Quick Snap Waterproof 35mm Single Use Camera (4 Pack) Customer Review

By Zannie "zannieh" ...
On a recent trip to Tahiti I Believe I Have tried about Every kind of one-time use underwater room on the market (ie, Kodak Max Sport, Kodak Max Wet, and Konica Waterproof Camera and the Fuji). All of the cameras Worked fine snorkeling, although I found the Konica and the Kodak Max Wet To Be More Difficult to use. [The Konica Was a Little Difficult to see through the view finder with a mask on, and the Kodak Max Wet, most annoyingly Had the strap and the photo button on opposite sides of the room! A real disadvantage to a right handed person. As a result Essentially you HAD to use two hands to take a photo, one to hold the room and the other to the depressed button. Any of These cameras will work fine for snorkeling, However the best Were the Fuji and Kodak Sport. Keep in mind That all underwater photos will look blue to bits, However, snorkeling in the lagoon in Tahiti, the blue WAS not really noticeable.

Here's the part I really like, now I ADMIT, Contrary to manufacturer recommendations, I did take Both the Fuji and the Kodak Max Wet room room with me Scuba Diving. According To directions in the manufacturer's recommended Fuji chamber depth is 17 feet [Which Is The Deepest Any one-time use of room on the market]. On my dives We Never Went Deeper Than about 22 feet. The problem with diving with These cameras is the pressure - you can take a photo just fine, But two to the pressure you will be Unable to wind the film. However, I used the Fuji Room without Any problems - I Was Able to always wind the film and the photos Came out wonderfully - although They Were blue. The Kodak Max Wet Room Would continually freeze up, Thus in order to take a photo you Would Have to snap the picture, go up Several feet, wind the film then go back down - not very convenient and as a result I Took Photos Very Few . Although I did take the photos with this room Came out well, although They Were too blue. The other benefit to the Fuji Room Is That It Is Easier to Use in the Water, the button to take a photo is much Easier to handle and there is a very large knob for winding the film, Which Is Especially handy if you are wearing gloves .
The knob is a real drawback for Both the Kodak Max Wet and the Konica cameras - I found Those two cameras to Be Much More Difficult to wind and May Be Near impossible if you are wearing dive gloves. Also with the Fuji and the Kodak Max Sport, the strap, the button and winder are all on the right side, Which Makes this room very easy to use for a right-handed person.

In summary, if you go snorkeling I would recommend the Fuji Room or the Kodak Max Sport. ... And, if you do plan to go Scuba diving, give the Fuji a try.

By Susan (LOS ANGELES, US, Canada) ...
This is a great little camera to take pictures inside and outside the water. Not surprisingly, offers the best dive sites on a sunny day, but even on cloudy days, produces sharp images with great detail.

On the ground, the lighting is much less special, and produces images with beautiful colors of light or shadow, or both.

Because it takes such beautiful pictures of water, a user might want to first practice with him on the ground. The lever feels very different from the button to adjust disposable cameras, and when you hear the click of shooting underwater, it could be uncertain if nothing had happened. A couple of test shots (without the urgency of a pool of sea turtles or a good school of fish) should increase confidence in the photographer's camera underwater.

The Ferris wheel which advances the film works very well: it is easy to find by touch, so you get another crack of something before it swims away is not difficult.

There is also a bracelet just to keep it, even if it is a good idea to keep a grip on the camera while swimming.

Simple operation makes a hit with children could make their extraordinary memory of the underwater world.
